Great news for fans of Telltale Games’ immersive video game series: An episodic Batman game is coming next year!

It started with The Walking Dead a few years ago: Telltale Games changed the face of gaming with its cinematic, choice-based series of game “episodes” based on the AMC TV series.

Playing as a new character, you made your way through the world of The Walking Dead, your journey running parallel to that of the main characters’.

Telltale Games tried to repeat their success with Game of Thrones, and although that game has had more mixed reviews, fans still love getting to explore the world of Westeros through new eyes.

Brilliantly, the choices you make as you play have major implications for your story going forward. If, in an early episode of the Game of Thrones game, you declare your loyalty to Cersei rather than Margaery, it will have lingering repercussions.

Now, Telltale Games is set to bring this model of gameplay to the world of Batman, which makes a lot of sense: As the countless comics, movies, TV series and games (most recently Rocksteady’s Arkham City trilogy) have proven, Gotham and beyond presents an inexhaustible playground, full of fascinating characters and stories just waiting to be told.

“This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy,” said Telltale Games’ Kevin Bruner (via EW).

The game was announced during this year’s Game Awards, and will arrive in 2016 for consoles, PC, Mac, and mobile devices.
