September 21 is Batman Day, and to celebrate the Caped Crusader’s 80th anniversary, there is a global Bat-Signal event set to kick off in Australia.

The world can sometimes feel like an overwhelmingly large place, but there are some things that make the global community seem much smaller. Pop culture and comic books have proven to be a great way to bring people from different communities, countries, and cultures together, all bonding over a shared love of their favorite characters. This Batman Day, that is going to be celebrated.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, there will be a global Bat-Signal event on September 21, Batman Day. This year’s holiday marks the 80th anniversary of Batman, so DC and Warner Bros. have organized some global festivities will kick off in Melbourne, Australia.

The Bat-Signal will light up the sky beginning in Melbourne starting at 8 pm local time, and major cities around the world will do the same when their clocks strike 8. However, unlike the comic books, THR reports that the Bat-Signal won’t necessarily be projected onto the sky, but will instead shine onto the sides of buildings in each city.

In addition to Melbourne, cities that are expected to participate are Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, London, São Paulo, New York, Montreal, and Mexico City. The Batman Day festivities are set to end when the Bat-Signal is projected in the final city on the list, Los Angeles.

Pam Lifford, the President of Warner Bros. Global Brands and experiences said the Batman Day event wasn’t just meant to honor Bruce Wayne’s 80th anniversary, but also remind us all what Batman and the Bat-Signal stand for.

“The Bat-Signal is easily one of the most recognizable images among all superhero iconography and this is going to be a remarkable sight as we transcend borders, languages and cultures to bring us all together with this single experience. We are proud to send up the Bat-Signal on Batman Day because it is an important beacon of inspiration that makes us all believe that it’s possible to take hardship and turn it into something good. Batman Day is a global celebration for all the fans.”

So if you’re close to any of those cities, be sure to mark your calendar for some global fun on Batman Day. We can’t wait to see the skies light up around the world with the iconic Bat-Signal!
