Nearly everyone knows about Batkid, and now the story has been made into a feature-length film. Batkid Begins’ first trailer has just been released and shows just some of the work that went into giving one young kid a very special day.

Miles Scott was five when he was diagnosed with leukemia, and once in remission the Make-A-Wish foundation did something pretty incredible for the little superhero fan. Watch the documentary’s trailer below:

Dana Nachman’s crowd-funded documentary follows five-year-old leukemia patient Miles Scott, whose wish through the Make-A-Wish foundation made him “Batkid” for the day.

Scott, who is now in remission, was taken through a series of staged missions in San Francisco, which had been transformed into Gotham City in order for the young hero to fight bad guys alongside Batman himself.

In the trailer we hear that more than 25,000 local residents came out to participate in the event, and the story quickly went viral on many social media platforms. It had many celebrities coming out to support Miles, and we look forward to seeing more of the documentary about the Batkid event.

The film’s official synopsis: “On one day, in one city, the world comes together to grant one 5-year-old cancer patient his wish. The documentary Batkid Begins looks at the ‘why’ of this flash phenomenon. Why did the intense outpouring of spontaneous support for a child reverberate around the world and become one of the biggest ‘good news stories’ ever?”
