It’s been 15 years since Bad Boys II, but the third film in the Bad Boys franchise, Bad Boys For Life has officially started shooting.

The Will Smith and Martin Short-led film Bad Boys and Bad Boys II hit theaters in 1995 and 2003, respectively, and earned millions of loyal fans the world over. So it wasn’t a surprise when it was announced that the pair would be reuniting to bring us a third Bad Boys film, Bad Boys For Life. And according to Will Smith’s Instagram, the flick officially started filming.

Bad Boys For Life has been a long time in the making and had several false starts along the way. So for fans of the franchise, the first day of filming is a huge milestone that nearly didn’t happen.

While there isn’t much known about the plot of the movie, Bad Boys For Life will star, in addition to Smith and Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton, and Joe Pantoliano will be reprising his role from the first two films. We don’t know if Gabrielle Union will be rejoining the Bad Boys fun, reprising her role from the second film. She is currently starring in the spin-off series from the film, L.A.’s Finest.

Either way, we’re so excited this movie is happening, and we can’t wait to see this addition to the Bad Boys franchise. Bad Boys For Life is set to hit movie theaters in January of 2020.
