Get ready to welcome The Babysitter’s Club back to television!

According to The Hollywood Reporter a new adaptation of Ann M. Martin’s beloved book series The Babysitter’s Club is officially in the works.

The new adaptation is currently being produced by Walden Media and Michael De Luca who are in the midst of shopping the proposed series around.

The plan is for the show to feature all of our favorite BSC characters and showcase a modernized take on Martin’s beloved book series. Like the original, it would focus on female friendship, entrepreneurialism, and empowerment.

“In a bid to keep the TV version as timely as possible, episodes will broach topics including divorce, racism, and belonging,” revealed THR.

As fans of the original series know, Martin’s books often broached difficult topics ranging from death and divorce, to remarriage and jealousy. With that in mind, it’s great to hear that the new proposed series is looking to broach important topics we should be talking about today.

If given the green light, the series would air in half-hour long episodes.

Though the series has yet to be picked up by a network, the studio is already looking into securing talent behind the scenes to helm the show.

Broad City’s Lucia Aniello is currently in talks to direct the adaptation, meanwhile GLOW’s Rachel Shukert is currently in talks to serve as the series’ showrunner.

We’ll be looking forward to seeing if anyone decides to pick up the latest iteration of The Babysitter’s Club going forward!
