Margot Robbie could soon be gearing up to star in La La Land director Damien Chazelle’s Babylon.

Looks like Emma Stone won’t be re-teaming with Damien Chazelle for Babylon after all.

According to Deadline, actress Emma Stone has waked away from Damien Chazelle’s upcoming period drama, Babylon.

The upcoming film would have resulted in a reunion for Stone and Chazelle who previously worked together on the critically acclaimed La La Land, which Chazelle also helmed.

The Academy Award winner was first rumored to be starring in the project back in July of 2019, but has since had to exit due to scheduling conflicts.

Stone’s departure makes way for another actress to assume the leading role, and it’s looking like Babylon may have already found its star in none other than Academy Award nominee, Margot Robbie.

Robbie is reportedly currently in early talks to board the project and take on the role Stone would have played. If she officially signs on, Babylon will find Robbie starring opposite Brad Pitt.

Both Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt recently worked together on Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood, for which Pitt scooped up the Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category.

As of right now, plot details for Damien Chazelle’s Babylon are fairly scarce. What we do know is that as with La La Land, Babylon is set in Hollywood. Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be much similarity between the two projects.

Instead, Babylon is set to take place between the transition of silent film to talking films (also referred to as “talkies”). The movie will also reportedly feature a combination of real life figures as well as fictional characters.

Currently, Babylon is slated to be released in theaters on Christmas Day 2021.
