The Baby Sonic render from the coming Sonic the Hedgehog film gifts us a first look at what the Blue Blur looked like before his high-speed adventures.

Baby Sonic continues the trend of baby-fying beloved characters, with Sonic’s wide-eyed gaze and flower offering ways melting our hearts.

In a Japanese promo for the coming Sonic the Hedgehog film, young Sonic runs through Emerald Hill Zone at lightning speed. Just as fast as he is in his adult years, this younger Sonic bounds high into the sky before shooting through a windy dirt path.

While the trailer is in Japanese, you get the gist of the cuteness simply from the adorable visuals. Check out the first look at Baby Sonic, courtesy of the Japanese Sega Twitter account.

I have some questions: Are we going to get a complete Sonic origin backstory? Is Sonic some sort of alien that landed on Earth as a baby? Who is he offering the precious little flower to? Is this going to be a time travel story (we’ve seen Sonic tossing out giant Portal-like rings, so it’s not completely out of the question)? Most importantly: Where can I buy a plush of Baby Sonic ASAP?

While this is the first time we’re seeing young Sonic as a 3D rendered model, there actually is another young Sonic design in the Sonic Underground series. It’s… a lot.

This young Sonic did not yet don the character’s iconic shoes, meaning his toes were completely visible (and distrubing).

If you think that’s creepy, just imagine what a Baby Sonic in the movie’s original CGI style would have looked like (or maybe don’t).

The Sonic the Hedgehog film will release internationally on Valentine’s Day 2020.
