Baby Nifflers were confirmed for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald dropped on Thursday via EW.

Let’s start with the cute news: Baby Nifflers will appear in Fantastic Beasts 2. LOOK HOW CUTE. In this photo it appears to be flying at the speed of light on a just-popped cork.

And some concept art, which gives you a good idea of how small the little critter is:

Petition to make all nifflers in the films baby nifflers. Petition to get Funkos of this lil guy.

In the same article, Entertainment Weekly confirmed three new beasts that will be a part of The Crimes of Grindelwald this November: The Kelpie (“a Scottish underwater creature that can be mounted and ridden,” which we saw in the trailer), a leucrotta (“a large moose-like creature with an impossibly huge month,” which we may’ve seen in the trailer) and an Augurey.

Does the Augurey sound familiar? Yes, this is the beast that makes a bit of a cameo in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child — Delphi “Diggory” has an Augurey’s feathers tattoo’d on her back (below is a fan’s interpretation), and those same feathers are a part of the play’s logo.

The Augurey is an “owl-like creature whose cry is believed to foretell death,” so we’ll be on pins and needles whenever it’s interacting with characters in Crimes of Grindelwald.

Speaking of interactions, it’s probably not a good sign that it’s in spitting distance of Jacob, the film’s only muggle, in Crimes of Grindelwald. Below is a screenshot from the trailer, and the film’s Instagram has confirmed that this is indeed an Augurey:

Hypable readers might remember that we once discussed J.K. Rowling connecting Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts via the Augurey.

Crimes of Grindelwald hits theaters this November.

Editor’s note: Johnny Depp, who co-stars in this film, has been repeatedly accused of violence. He allegedly beat his ex-wife Amber Heard (read the accusations by Heard and Depp’s former associates). J.K. Rowling responded to the controversy. In July 2018, Depp was accused of punching a crew member on the set of a film in April 2017. Why are we telling you this?
