If you’re looking for a swoony, and funny romance novel with a pregnancy plot than look no further than Baby Daddy by Kendall Ryan!

About ‘Baby Daddy’ by Kendall Ryan:

We met in a trapped elevator.

Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie.

I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right?

At thirty-five, my life hadn’t taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting—I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.

After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner — he also insisted on something else — that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy. He was a wealthy and powerful CEO with little interest in diapers or playdates. And since he didn’t want kids, I’d be on my own once his bun was in my oven, free to go my own way.

But once his baby was inside me, it was like a switch had been flipped, and I got a whole lot more than I ever bargained for.

‘Baby Daddy’ by Kendall Ryan review:

As a self-described addict to to pregnancy storylines, I was very excited to get my hands on Baby Daddy by Kendall Ryan. In fact, this might just be my new favorite by her. So many pregnancy plots in romances end up being surprise pregnancies that it’s always fun to see things mixed up with the characters setting out to conceive.

In Baby Daddy, the heroine is actually planning on raising a baby solo and looks to a sperm bank for help. Fate intervenes though, and Jenna ends up meeting Emmett who jumps at the chance of knocking her up — he’s also on board to let her raise the baby alone.

However, he adds in the condition that they go about things the old fashioned way. Jenna re-adjusts her plans to get pregnant through artificial insemination but still holds onto the hope that she can keep things strictly business with Emmett. What the pair wasn’t expecting was to learn that they enjoy each other’s company for more than just their bodies.

“I shouldn’t be pissed. She’s not exactly asking me for a hardship here. But orgasming into a cup isn’t what I want. She is, and right up until five seconds ago, I thought we were on the same page about this arrangement. I’ve been loking forward to taking this sexy firefracker of a woman to my bed tonight, not handing her my jizz in a sterile plastic cup. What a fucking let down.”

Probably my one criticism about this novel, is that I had a hard time getting into the beginning of this novel. It really wasn’t until the third chapter that this book really clicked for me and I started to feel that familiar pull to devour the whole thing. So I would just warn readers to stick through the first few chapters even if they’re having a hard time getting into it.

After that I loved everything! Along with the sexiness that comes with trying to make a baby, this book made me laugh out loud several times when I was reading it which was a nice little surprise. And even though it’s not a slow burn when it comes to the baby making, the couple’s feelings do slowly evolve over time which just melted my heart.

I’ve also come to realize that I’m a big fan of Kendall’s steamier reads, and this definitely falls under that category. While it still has all of the cute factor that I expect from this author, it also has plenty of baby-making scenes that will leave readers satisfied.

“This isn’t just baby-making anymore. Deep down, I know it hasn’t been for a long time. The fire that consumes us every time we meet has nothing to do with procreation and everything to do with pure chemical lust. I shouldn’t love it so much, but holy hell, I couldn’t fight this feeling even if I wanted to.”

Plus, there’s an additional twist to the story that makes the storyline extra interesting. Jenna and Emmett have an unexpected connection that neither one of them knows about until quite far into the book. They’re both dealing with something stressful outside of their unconventional partnership which has the potential to tear them apart for good.

The characters are extremely lovable, Kendall Ryan’s writing is superb, and the plot of Baby Daddy is just so entertaining! What more could a reader want?
