Kavanaugh Cold Open
SNL took on the controversial nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court this week in the cold open. The sketch included Beck Bennett as Mitch McConnell, Kate McKinnon as Lindsay Graham, and Cecily Strong as Susan Collins.
Awkwafina Opening Monologue
Actress Awkwafina opened the show with a monologue about her background growing up in Queens, New York. She also spoke about coming to Rockefeller Plaza to try to see her childhood idol Lucy Liu when she hosted the show in 2000. “Standing here tonight is a dream I never thought could come true,” she says.
Presidential Alert
This week, Americans with cell phones all received a “Presidential Alert” test notification sent by the government. This sketch wasted no time spoofing the alert in a hilarious way.
Ted Cruz Rally
SNL took another stab at poking fun of the upcoming midterm elections. In a sketch featuring Beck Bennett as Ted Cruz, everything seems to be going wrong for the current Senator.
Pete Davidson Talks Kanye West
Following last week’s episode with Kanye West, the rapper made some controversial statements. Cast member Pete Davidson stopped by Weekend Update to give his side of the story, complete with a “Make Kanye 2006 Again” hat. “Being mentally ill isn’t an excuse to act like a jackass,” Pete said.
Travis Scott Performs
This week Travis Scott performed as the musical guest. He performed songs “Skeletons / Astrothunder” and “Sicko Mode.” Check out the performances below.
