We’ve long known that the Avengers spin-off TV show S.H.I.E.L.D. has been brewing over at ABC, but until now we’ve had very little information as to which characters would be making an appearance in the thing.

Calm down, you’ll find no Nick Fury or Maria Hill in the descriptions listed below, but thanks to the folks over at TVLine and E!Online, we’ve got a scoop that might give us the most accurate glimpse yet at this “high concept cop show.”

First on the list is a character named Skye, a woman in her twenties who “sounds like a dream.” She’s fun, smart, caring, confident, and uses her wit and charm to gain the upper-hand.

Next is an Agent Grant Ward, who is described as deadly, precise, and the type to remain cool under fire, but is also the type to botch interpersonal relationships. He’s quiet with a little bit of a volatile temper, but according to the call, he’s a man with morals and charm that will eventually grow on you.

Agent Althea Rice is known as “The Calvary.” She’s a hardcore soldier with crazy weaponry and pilot skills. Her experiences have left her quiet and a little damaged. She is known for going above the call of duty, regardless of the cost.

Agent Leo Fitz and Agent Jemma Simmons: Also sometimes jokingly referred to as Fitz-Simmons, these are two recruits who went through S.H.I.E.L.D. training together and still spend most of their time in the company of the other. They act like bickering siblings, but they each have their specialty – she’s a chemist and he knows his weaponry.

You all better get really acquainted with these characters, because we have a feeling you’ll be seeing plenty of them on ABC as well as here on Hypable!

Other news for the ‘Avengers’ spin-off TV show ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’

No other familiar faces have yet signed on for the S.H.I.E.L.D. project, least of all any of the characters that made appearances in The Avengers like Iron Man, Captain America, or even Nick Fury and Maria Hill. At this point, it certainly seems as though the S.H.I.E.L.D. universe will have its own contained characters, but that doesn’t mean that a friendly face couldn’t drop by from time to time.

Clark Gregg has expressed interest in reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson, so we must ask, exactly what timeframe are we looking at here for a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show? Would it take place before the Battle for New York?

If Item 47 from the Avengers Blu-ray gives any answer, it seems that Agent Coulson has already passed away. To be fair, however, we’re unsure what – if anything – the S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off has to do with Item 47.

Come to think of it, an inseparable couple, the male of which has heavy weapons experience? Could this be Claire and Benny from “Item 47” under new names? We doubt it, especially since Lizzy Caplan has stated that she will be too busy for the TV show.

We’re still hoping for Hawkeye or Black Widow to come in and save the day from episode-to-episode. It seems very Whedonesque to include a few cameo appearances to please the fanboys.

What do you think? Will we see familiar faces in ‘S.H.I.E.L.D’?
