Avengers: Infinity War is already breaking records. According to Fandango, the Marvel movie set the advance-ticket record in six hours.

As of writing, Infinity War is already ahead of the first day sales of both Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the movie that previously held Fandango’s advance-ticket record, and Black Panther.

Black Panther continues to go from strength to box-office strength. It enjoyed an incredible opening weekend, and remains in the top two domestically weeks after debuting. That Infinity War is putting up increased numbers, following in Black Panther’s footsteps, could bode well for the latest Marvel team-up.

Fandango surveyed over 1000 moviegoers that purchased advance tickets to see Infinity War. Per Deadline, the results of that survey was as follows;

–97% can’t wait to see how dozens of heroes work together in the same film
–94% are excited to see different franchise characters (Guardians, Avengers, etc.) meeting one another for the first time.
–92% see Infinity War as the culmination of all of the MCU films before it.
–87% have seen all of the MCU movies.
–71% saw Black Panther on the big screen.
–60% claim Black Panther made them even more excited to see Avengers: Infinity War.

It was recently revealed that the entirety of Infinity War’s third act would take place in Wakanda. For the 60% of moviegoers that Fandango surveyed, who are more excited for the next Avengers move post-Black Panther, that should prove to be a huge draw.

Whether it can match the critical and fan acclaim of Black Panther remains to be seen. However, the MCU has been leading up to this moment over the last decade. Expectations for Thanos’ true debut are high. Hopefully those expectations will be met.
