Bringing down Thanos can’t be done just like *snap* that.

The highly-anticipated conclusion to this era of the Avengers arrives in one month, and based on what happened at the end of Infinity War, it’s clear that the heroes — including the recently-paged Captain Marvel — have a lot of work ahead of them.

So it might not come as a surprise to hear that Avengers: Endgame might be three hours long.

That’s the word from several movie theater websites, anyway. AMC’s page for Endgame had briefly stated that the Endgame runtime is set for 182 minutes, and the info was backed up by Fandango’s Twitter account.

If true, Avengers: Endgame will be the longest Marvel movie to date — and one of the longest movies I’ve ever sat in a theater for. It’ll easily beat the 149 minute MCU runtime record set by Infinity War last year.

Director Joe Russo had previously hinted that the movie could hit the 3 hour mark. “There’s a high probability that this movie will clock in at around three hours,” he told Empire. “It’s a big movie with a lot of story.”

In February, he said Disney/Marvel is game for whatever runtime they need. “I think the studio is down with what the best story is. Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is,” he said.

“We’re still doing work to it. We’re not done with it. Again, this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate.”

In a separate interview, Marvel head Kevin Feige noted that “Every movie should feel like it’s an hour and 45 minutes. Now, some movies can be 90 minutes and feel like they’re four hours. And some movies can be three and a half hours and feel like 90 minutes. So for us, that’s what it … It’s, ‘how does it feel?’ And every version of Endgame thus far, and the ones that we’re honing in on, feel very good.”

Endgame is widely expected to be the final film for several key characters including Captain America and Iron Man, so we can see why they need to spend so much time saying farewell to the big guns.

Tickets are not yet on sale for Endgame, but we’ll keep you posted. The movie drops April 26.
