Marvel closed out a day of huge panels at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H with some big surprises including footage from Thor 2, Captain America 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Avengers’ sequel title.

The Nerdist himself Chris Hardwicke hosted the hour-long Marvel event which fans had been waiting all day for.

Hardwicke wasn’t able to host for long. Minutes into the start, the lights went dark, and Loki came out on stage to huge applause. Tom Hiddleston had the crowd in the palm of his hand, telling them to join him in an uprising against The Avengers.

Hiddleston remained in character the entire time. “Say my name!” “Loki!” “Say my name!” “Loki!” echoed in a thunderous roar in Hall H. That’s when a new look at Thor appeared with great footage from the film.

Next the panel moved on to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, along with its star studded cast.

Film stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sebastian Stan all took the stage to discuss the film. Evans and Johansson said that their two characters share the movie in a big way.

An extended trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier kicked off with a cool sequence where the hero himself takes on a slew of enemies all confined in a very small elevator. Fans ate up the footage which included a couple of surprises. The footage will not be available online, Marvel confirmed.

Next up was a surprise: The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy. Only two weeks into filming, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, and Chris Pratt took the stage to applause. The cast flew into San Diego today and will leave again tonight because they must get back to filming Guardians in London.

Chris Pratt spoke about his character, Star-Lord. “Sta-Lord is this guy who lives in space,” he said coyly at first. “He’s a jerk who had a hard time as a kid and now he goes around space making out with hot alien girls just being a rogue. Through teaming up with these guys, he finds a higher purpose for himself which is to really care about something and really fight and put his life on the line for his new family.”

Zoe Saldana said her character, Gamora, is an “assassin from space.” Zoe Saldana will be playing a “green-skinned humanoid who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon,” in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Director James Gunn spoke highly of Dave Bautista and his acting skills as Drax the Destroyer, and Bautista added that he was extremely appreciative and still can’t believe he’s involved with Marvel’s Guardians.

Del Toro hasn’t started filming his role yet, so today was the first time he got to meet many of the cast. Lee Pace was asked who his character, Ronan the Accuser, was. “He’s very complicated. He’s a beast. He’s an iconic character, and I don’t want to say too much right now because we’re going to put it on the screen.”

Karen Gillan, a favorite for her role on Doctor Who as Amy Pond, was asked: Isn’t Nebula bald? That’s when she pulled her wig off and revealed a completely bald head. The audience completely ate it up, and Gillan surprisingly threw her wig into the crowd.

The Walking Dead’s, Michael Rooker, and Karen Gillan were hilariously comparing bald heads – then suddenly a full-blown trailer premiered for Guardians of the Galaxy. The trailer included the fan-favorite, Rocket Racoon, and was surprisingly very funny.

With a completely impressed crowd, Marvel still wasn’t finished. After the Guardians of the Galaxy cast left the stage, Marvel had one more surprise: Joss Whedon. The director said, “I don’t have anything to say, I just have one thing to add: Roll it.” It was then that Marvel unveiled an Avengers 2 teaser trailer and the name of the movie: The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron official logo was also revealed, which we’ve included below:

The Avengers: Age of Ultron footage was brief, but it revealed our first look at Ultron, who will be the main antagonist for the film. Ultron is a criminally insane rogue sentient robot dedicated to conquest and the extermination of humanity.

We’ll be sure to bring you descriptions of the footage that was revealed today at Marvel’s Comic-Con panel as soon as possible.
