The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released in U.S. theaters Friday, May 1, but there are already reports that an extended cut and an alternate ending will be included on the DVD and Blu-ray.

Apparently there are quite a few scenes from trailers and clips that aren’t actually in Avengers: Age of Ultron’s theatrical release, as we’ve found out from those who have seen the film early outside the states. Director Joss Whedon actually said that his original cut was 3-hours long, but the final film comes in at 2 hours and 21 minutes.

An email from Amazon U.S. has leaked, which reveals that not only will The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s extended cut be included, but an alternate ending will be included with the film’s home release.

This is exciting for many reasons, but as this is Joss Whedon’s last Avengers’ movie, maybe he just had a few things he wanted to add that didn’t make it into the theatrical release. Below you’ll find the leaked Age of Ultron Blu-ray email from Amazon U.K.

This could also mean that we won’t have to wait for over a year for a super-awesome-extended look at The Avengers: Age of Ultron on DVD and Blu-ray. It’ll be interesting to see what the alternate ending is, as we know Marvel is pretty focused on leading one film into the next.

Age of Ultron has already crossed the $200 million mark having been released outside the U.S. already, but when it hits theaters Thursday night, we imagine it’ll be in another stratosphere. Early predictions have it at $217 million opening weekend, but we think it could go even higher.

We look forward to finding out more about The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s alternate ending, but we’d like to see the movie in theaters first, then we’ll start getting excited for its home release. Let us know what you think about Age of Ultron having an extended cut and an alternate ending when it lands on DVD and Blu-ray.

We’ll be releasing new articles for The Avengers: Age of Ultron all week, so be sure to keep checking in as we approach the film’s U.S. release, with early showings starting Thursday night.
