Disney has just announced the release date for The Avengers 2… May 1, 2015!

Exactly one week ago we reported that studio insiders were suggesting May 1, 2015 as the target release date that Marvel and Disney had in mind for The Avengers sequel and now it’s official.

Last week the studio announced that Joss Whedon would indeed return to write and direct the sequel to their wildly successful first film which was released May 4, 2012.

Marvel has a full slate of super hero films over the next few years. Iron Man 3 hits theaters May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World opens November 8, 2013, and Captain America: The Winter Solider is out April 2014.
