The release date for the third installment of Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search has been announced, along with an exciting synopsis for the comic.

Dark Horse Comics has announced the release date for the third and final installment in the long-anticipated comic book series Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search. The Search, Part 3 will go on sale in comic book stores on Oct. 30, and will be released by general booksellers in November.

The Search comics, written by Gene Luen Yang and illustrated by Gurihiru, tell the story of now-Fire Lord Zuko and his sister Azula’s search for their long-missing mother Princess Ursa. The circumstances behind Ursa’s disappearance have been a source of debate among fans of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender since the show concluded. The recently-released synopsis for The Search, Part 3 offers a hint or two at where the answers to the mystery may finally be found.

Avatar Aang travels to the spirit world to parley with an ancient power, bringing Fire Lord Zuko ever closer to discovering the truth about his mother’s fate — and his own past.

Yet Zuko’s sister Azula is becoming increasingly dangerous, threatening to ruin everything that Zuko, Aang, Katara, and Sokka have struggled to achieve on their search!

It is interesting to note that the synopsis says nothing about Zuko’s recent struggles with his heritage, which were angled to become a major (make that majorly major) plot point of the story in The Search, Part 1. While the omission may not be meaningful, it could potentially hint that certain letters and schemes may not be all that they seem.

Meanwhile, part 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search will be released in comic book stores on July 10. Be sure to speculate to your heart’s content until then over the set of preview pages released for the middle part of this epic story.
