The cover art for part 3 of Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search has recently been revealed, along with one sneak peak at an emotional scene from part 2.

An Avatar: The Last Airbender panel at this year’s WonderCon featured the reveal of cover art for the final installment of The Search, a graphic novel exploring the history and disappearance of Zuko’s mother, Ursa. Check out the epic cover right here:

The Search, Part 1, written by Gene Yang and illustrated by Gurihiru, which was released to general booksellers on April 2. The comic started fans down the twisted path of Princess Ursa’s tragic history, introducing unexpected revelations to the long-standing mystery and making it clear how powerfully (and painfully) their mother’s past still affects Zuko and Azula. Shocking as they are, Yang assured the WonderCon audience that the creative decisions behind The Search are deeply thought-out and discussed. “[Co-creator Mike DiMartino] and I will get on the phone, we’ll have a long conversation and go back and forth on the script,” he said, noting the difference from his previous Avatar comic, The Promise. That work, he says, “was pretty collaborative. The Search is really, really collaborative.”

Giving fans a tast of the psychological intensity ahead, one page from The Search, Part 2 was revealed at the WonderCon panel, illustrating Azula’s continuing struggles:

The official description for the next installment reads:

In search of their long-lost mother, Fire Lord Zuko and his deadly and insane sister Azula have brought Avatar Aang and his friends into a mysterious forest, but what they discover within may be more than they can face. Will they too be lost in these woods forever?

Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search, Part 2 will hit comic book stores on July 10, and general book sellers on July 28.
