The Avatar sequels have cast a Fear the Walking Dead actor in a lead role, alongside Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington.

Saldana and Worthington helped bring Avatar to life in 2009. Now, they’ll be joined by someone who knows a little bit about staying alive in a dangerous world.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cliff Curtis, who plays Travis Manawa on TWD, has joined the franchise as Tonowari, leader of the Metkayina reef people clan.

We know the Avatar sequels will be exploring an underwater world on Pandora, so it makes sense we’d be seeing another clan, one which dwells in the sea. Furthermore, THR is saying Curtis’ role probably expands through Avatar 5, so don’t expect this character or this environment to go away any time soon.

Aside from these three actors, Sigourney Weaver will also return to the franchise. This is a big project to undertake, with four total sequels in the works. It’s unclear what this means for Curtis’ role in The Walking Dead.
