Ava DuVernay is teaming up with The CW to bring a brand new DC series to the small screen. Here’s what you can expect from Naomi.

According to Deadline, Emmy winner Ava DuVernay has signed on to develop a brand new series for The CW which will centere around the DC Comics character, Naomi.

Based on Bryan Michael Bendis and David F. Walker’s 2019 comic book series, Naomi. The series is set to follow the titular character as she moves “from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse.”

Per the show’s longline, “when a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.”

Shortly after news broke, Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY took to Twitter to confirm the exciting announcement.

Ava DuVernay will be teaming up with CW vet Jill Blankenship, who has previously served as a writer and co-executive producer on the network’s Arrow. They’ll be writing and executive producing on Naomi together.

Naomi finds DuVernay continuing to explore in the DC universe. Her new CW series aside, she’s also gearing up to direct the upcoming big screen adaptation of DC’s New Gods.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Naomi to debut via The CW. Similarly, a theatrical release date has not yet been set for DC’s New Gods.
