The Atlantis Rising sequel by T.A. Barron, titled Atlantis in Peril, continues the story of Atlantis’ downfall.

At the end of Atlantis Rising, the island of Atlantis was formed and the evil Narkazan and his minions were defeated.

But not for long. In Atlantis in Peril, Narkazan is back and he has an even more dastardly plan up his sleeves. A Greek ship is in rough waters off the shore of the island, and even though Promi may have the power to save it, that doesn’t mean he should.

As always, actions have consequences, and Promi knows this well. His relationship with Atlanta also has consequences, and he will have to decide whether his happiness is worth the fate of the island.

‘Atlantis in Peril’ review

Atlantis in Peril continues to expand the world Barron developed in the first book. We get to see more of the Spirit Realm in particular, but we also see how the island continues to develop over the course of the novel. As always, the creatures of this world are a true highlight.

As a character, Promi is often frustrating beyond belief (Atlanta would agree with us), but that’s also what makes his heroic journey so fulfilling. He is proud, rebellious, and naive, but as he grows over the course of the book, you can truly see him coming to terms with his actions. His sacrifices are not small by any means, and yet he still carries through with them because he knows he must.

The minor characters in Peril are always delightful, and as we expand the point of view of one loveable character, we also get to meet another one who sounds like he will play an important part in Atlantis’ final chapter. The stakes are ever higher, and the final book in Barron’s Atlantis series is bound to show us the repercussions of what has happened in this second book.

Atlantis in Peril is available now. You can add the book to your Goodreads list, or purchase it on Amazon or IndieBound.
