Donald Glover’s Atlanta won’t be going anywhere any time soon.

According to Entertainment Weekly, FX has officially renewed Atlanta for a third season.

It’s great news for fans of Donald Glover’s hit series — especially given that the news of the renewal comes hot off the heels of this year’s season 2 finale.

In a statement announcing the series’ third season, FX president of original programming Nick Grad revealed that everyone at the network is looking forward to seeing what Glover and the Atlanta team will be able to do with a third season.

Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done,” said Grad. “With Atlanta Robbin’ Season, Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season.

We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places.”

This year’s season found Earn (Glover) and breakout rapper Paper Boi (Bryan Tyree Henry) navigating their way through Atlanta’s rap scene as Paper Boi continued his climb up the ladder of success.

As with the inaugural season, Atlanta Robbin’ Season delivered some incredibly poignant episodes and kept us on our toes throughout.

With that in mind, we’ll be looking forward to seeing what Glover and the rest of the team have in store for us for the series’ forthcoming third season.

Currently, FX has yet to reveal an official release date for the show’s return. That being said, Atlanta season 3 is expected to premiere sometime later this year.
