Community actor Donald Glover’s new show, Atlanta, is already breaking records, so it’s no wonder the show’s been renewed.

Glover is known for his music as much as his comedy, so it was only a matter of time before they came together in a brand new way. Thus, Atlanta was born.

The synopsis for the show reads:

Atlanta is one of the top cities for young rappers looking to make a name for themselves in the business. Among those up-and-comers is Alfred Miles, a hot new artist who is trying to understand the line between real life and street life. He is managed by his cousin, Earn, who gets caught up in the local rap scene and his cousin’s career after returning home to the ATL. Earn does whatever he can to try to get Alfred’s career to the next level. Darius, the rapper’s right-hand man and visionary, is also in Alfred’s entourage. When Earn isn’t busy managing his cousin’s career, he spends much of his time with best friend Vanessa, who is also the mother of his daughter.

The season premiere of Atlanta brought in 1.8 million viewers, beating the previous record for a basic cable comedy premiere, which had been held by Inside Amy Schumer, having debuted in 2013.

Now, according to Variety, Atlanta has already been granted a season 2 by FX. Numbers held steady over the first three episodes, with the fourth one airing tonight, Sept. 20.

Fans of the series are applauding its diversity and realistic portrayal of the music scene in Atlanta, which Glover is personally familiar with.

FX also renewed another one of their comedies, Better Things, for a season 2 as well.
