FX’s award-winning Atlanta will be on hiatus while Donald Glover does a little movie in a galaxy far, far away.

Atlanta, one of the breakout shows of 2016 which recently picked up some major awards at the Golden Globes (including for Best Actor and Best TV Series Comedy or Musical), will be taking a break.

Don’t be too upset though — there’s a very good reason for the extended waiting period. And the most important thing is that the show isn’t cancelled; in fact, according to Deadline, Donald Glover just signed a deal with FX to make even more excellent programming!

The reason why we’ll have to wait until 2018 for Atlanta season 2 is that Donald Glover, of course, will be busy this year filming the Star Wars anthology film about Han Solo, in which he’s playing Lando Calrissian.

The movie, which also stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Emilia Clarke as the female lead, takes place before the events of Star Wars (1977), while Han Solo was still a smuggler working with Lando.

In the original series, Lando Calrissian was played by Billy Dee Williams. The character is a fan-favorite and his origin story has been a long time coming — and, interestingly, Glover has been a long-time fan favorite to play the character’s younger self.

Donald Glover will also be making his debut in another popular franchise this year, specifically the Marvel Cinematic Universe: He’s joining Spider-Man: Homecoming in an as of yet unnamed role.

The untitled Han Solo anthology movie premieres on May 25, 2018. It is directed by The LEGO Movie‘s Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
