Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, just dropped a second trailer, providing plenty of new footage in the process.

The synopsis for the film reads:

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

The first trailer was a great introduction to the concept of the film and the high quality production, but it was a bit chaotic and difficult to follow. Vying for attention was both an introduction to the plot and the feats of daring we can expect to see throughout the movie.

The second trailer took more time to explain the setup, while also showing us tons of new footage. You can check it out below:

Assassin’s Creed is, of course, based off the successful video game franchise of the same name. Video game-to-movie adaptations don’t tend to do particularly well in theaters, but Assassin’s is obviously looking to change that.

Warcraft was hoping it would be the one to make a mark, but alas, it didn’t garner much acclaim from the critics.

Meanwhile, there’s also a Tomb Raider movie in the works, starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. Fans of the newly rebooted video game franchise will surely be tuning in to see what the adaptation has to offer.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ opens in theaters on December 21, 2016
