Ubisoft has announced a console remake of last year’s PlayStation Vita game Assassin’s Creed Liberation in addition to a new mobile title, Assassin’s Creed Pirates.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation will get a full high definition makeover in order for it to make the leap from Vita to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The revamped game will feature new animations, new and improved gameplay, re-mastered audio, and a day and night cycle.

Liberation was notable in the Assassin’s Creed series because it featured the franchise’s first female protagonist, Aveline de Grandpré, with a wealthy man as her father and a slave as her mother.

Released in October 2012 exclusively on PS Vita as a companion title to Assassin’s Creed III, Liberation is set in a similar time period to Connor’s story, in the 18th century. Aveline’s story takes place in New Orleans.

The original Liberation made use of the Vita’s touch features, so it will be interesting to see how they translate to consoles. We would expect it to feel similar to a traditional Assassin’s Creed title.

For comparison, here’s the original reveal trailer for the PS Vita version of the game.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD is due to release in early 2014 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Ubisoft has also announced Assassin’s Creed Pirates, a mobile title focused on naval warfare, to be released on high-end smartphones and tablets in fall of this year.

Pirates is not intended as a companion game to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, but will also be set in the 18th century.

These next six months look to be busy for Assassin’s Creed fans. In addition to these two titles, another mobile title, Assassin’s Creed: Utopia, is also due to be released.

The next major instalment in the franchise, Black Flag, meanwhile, releases in late October.
