If rumors are true, Sony’s handheld could be getting its own Assassin’s Creed game very soon.

A poster on the video game forums of NeoGaf claims that the July issue of Game Informer reveals Assassin’s Creed: Liberation for the PlayStation Vita.

Set between 1765 and 1780, the game will reportedly cast players as a French black female assassin named Aveline around the end of the French and Indian War in New Orleans.

Details point to the game not connecting to the Desmond storyline and will include “multiplayer specifically tailored to the vita experience.”

The title is supposedly being developed by Ubisoft Sofia and will release alongside Assassin’s Creed III on October 30.

An IGN reader sent them a supposed picture of the female assassin from the magazine, seen below.

If the game is real, expect an announcement during either Ubisoft or Sony’s E3 press conference Monday.

Would you pick up two Assassin’s Creed games launching on the same day if the details turn out to be true?
