Ashleigh Murray’s Josie McCoy could soon be trading small town living in Riverdale for an adventure in the Big Apple.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Ashleigh Murray could be gearing up to leave Riverdale to spearhead another CW series set in the Archie Comics universe.

As we learned just a few weeks ago, The CW recently gave a pilot order to Riverdale spinoff, Katy Keene.

Written by Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina show runner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Katy Keene is set to follow the lives of four 20-something friends chasing their dreams and trying to make it in New York City on Broadway, and in the music and fashion industry.

The new spinoff, which is being pegged as a musical dramedy, would bring a whole new crew of Archie Comics characters to live on the small screen. One familiar face we’ll be seeing among the bunch is none other than Riverdale’s Josie McCoy

CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed to reporters at this year’s TCAs that Murray would be playing a slightly older version of her Riverdale counterpart if the pilot goes to series.

Though Katy Keene and Riverdale exist in the same universe, fans shouldn’t hold their breaths when it comes to the possibility of crossover episodes.

The biggest thing that would prevent both series from partaking in a crossover extravaganza is the fact that the Katy Keene timeline is set several years ahead of the Riverdale timeline.

That being said, it doesn’t sound as though The CW is ruling out the possibility of featuring other Riverdale characters in the new spinoff.

“If anyone from Riverdale were to come to Katy, they’d come as their older self,” Pedowitz told reporters in attendance.

Given the success of Riverdale and CAOS, Katy Keene stands a good chance of getting the green light over at The CW.

If it does, we’ll be incredibly excited to see Murray’s Josie take the spotlight as she heads off to NYC with dreams of breaking into the music biz!
