Watch Arrow star Stephen Amell train like the hero he plays on television.

It’s still three weeks until Arrow season 3 begins filming, but we’re not without goodies to tide us over. Amell, it turns out, isn’t satisfied with just playing a hero on The CW’s Arrow. The actor, who is quite active and engaged with his fanbase on his Facebook page and Youtube channel, has recently posted several videos of his unique exercise routine.

In its first two seasons, Arrow has featured numerous training scenes, including the iconic salmon ladder seen in the first workout video above, as well as increasingly complex stunts, of which Amell does many.

According to Arrow stunt coordinator JJ Makaro, Amell was sent to learn parkour before the series began so that he might be involved in as many stunts as possible. His dedication has inspired the stunt staff to push boundaries: “He just loved it so much, and he’s applied himself so well on it. He’s very good at it, and that’s part of the reason why I would like to keep going with it.”

It’s not all fun and games though; sometimes Amell is stuck with an eight-mile run on the treadmill instead of a workout on an obstacle course at Tempest Freerunning Academy in Los Angeles.

Amell has also posted videos of his archery skills on his Facebook page.

From the above videos, it’s easy to see that The CW’s Emerald Archer is the real deal.

Arrow returns with new episodes on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW this fall.
