Arrow has cast J.R. Ramirez as Ted Grant, alias Wildcat, for season 3.

Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that Ted “Wildcat” Grant would appear in the show’s third season. And now we know Ramirez will be playing him.

In the DC Comics world, Grant has no superpowers but is a world-champion boxer. His is a member of the Justice Society of America and also mentor to some other vigilantes — including Black Canary.

On Arrow, Grant is envisioned as a former boxer with a mysterious past who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. Interestingly, he is expected to play a large role in Laurel Lance’s story arc this season.

Guggenheim, teasing Laurel’s interactions with who we assume now is Wildcat, recently said Laurel’s fans “will be really, really happy” with what is coming for her.

The role is potentially recurring.

Ramirez’s other credits include roles on Power, Emily Owens, M.D., House of Payne, and Hacienda Heights.

Stephen Amell recently posted this picture of him in his Arrow costume in a fighting ring on Facebook. This definitely looks like a preview of a Wildcat storyline.
