The Arrow season 3 premiere, titled “The Calm,” airs tonight, as Starling City gets used to a new normal after Slade’s defeat.
Previously on ‘Arrow’
Last season on Arrow, Oliver faced a ghost from his past: Slade Wilson. Slade came to Starling City to build an army of super soldiers and destroy everything Oliver loved before killing him. In the midst of this, Sara Lance also returned from the supposed dead as a vigilante known as Canary, Laurel struggled through grief-fueled addiction, Malcolm Merlyn reappeared to reveal that he is Thea’s biological father, and Moira sacrificed herself to save her children.
Oliver and his allies defeated Slade and his Mirakuru army in the season 2 finale. Oliver managed to beat Slade without killing him, imprisoning him in an A.R.G.U.S. prison on Lian Yu and thus completing his journey to becoming a true hero.
By the end of the season, Sara had returned to the League of Assassins with Nyssa al Ghul; Oliver lost his stake in Queen Consolidated, leaving him broke; Thea left to train with Malcolm; Diggle learned he was going to be a father; and Oliver declared his love for Felicity, though they both treated it as nothing more than a ruse to defeat Slade.
