The CW has released the official description for Arrow season 3, teasing the Arrow’s status as a hero and possibly even some Olicity.

Arrow‘s second season ended with Oliver defeating Slade and leaving him imprisoned in an A.R.G.U.S. facility on Lian Yu. Meanwhile, Sara rejoined Nyssa al Ghul, Detective Lance collapsed, and Thea, feeling betrayed by her loved ones, left Starling with her biological father, Malcolm Merlyn.

Plus, in the flashbacks, we ended the season with Oliver face-to-face with Amanda Waller in Hong Kong.

So what can we expect in season 3? The official synopsis reads:

In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen — not as long as the city needs The Arrow.

This synopsis seems to hint at some time passing between the end of season 2 and start of season 3. After all, Lance had only just been reinstated as detective in the finale. Yesterday, the Arrow: Season 2.5 digital comic was announced. According to EP and comic writer Marc Guggenheim, the comics will span the time between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3.

And yes, Olicity shippers, you read that right. It seems Oliver’s declaration of love in the season finale might not have been a lie after all. However, complicating matters is the entrance of new Queen Consolidated owner Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), who is expected to be a love interest for Felicity.

Also complicating things in season 3 will be Malcolm Merlyn, as John Barrowman was promoted to series regular, and a new Count Vertigo (Peter Stormare) in the first episode of the season, which will be titled “The Calm.”

Arrow season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
