Move over, Roy Harper. It looks like Thea Queen Merlyn will have a new love interest in Arrow season 3.

Arrow has cast Carrie Diaries alum Austin Butler as Chase, a charismatic DJ whose talent and wiles catch Thea’s attention. This will be a recurring role, and Butler will make his first appearance in the seventh episode of season 3.

Of course, this comes after Thea left Starling City with her biological father, Malcolm Merlyn, at the end of season 2 — breaking up with boyfriend Roy in the process.

Besides The Carrie Diaries, Butler has also appeared on Switched at Birth, Life Unexpected, and The Intruders.

This casting news comes on the heels of Matt Nable being cast as legendary DC Comics villain Ra’s al Ghul.

Recent Arrow casting additions also include Amy Gumenick (Cupid), Rila Fukushima (Katana), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer), David Cubitt (Manhunter), Matt Ward (Komodo), J.R. Ramirez (Wildcat), Karl Yune (Maseo Yamashiro) and Peter Stormare (Vertigo). John Barrowman will also be returning to Arrow as a series regular in season 3.

Felicity is also slated to have a character-centric episode, titled “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak,” that will feature her mother (Charlotte Ross) and her ex-boyfriend from MIT (Nolan Funk).

Another Arrow season 3 promo was also recently released, featuring Team Arrow in action, further Olicity teases, Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer, and even a glimpse at Thea training:

If that promo got you excited, be sure to check out four photos from the season premiere, titled “The Calm,” as well.

Arrow season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
