The upcoming Arrow/Flash spinoff has cast Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders.

Renée will be joining the untitled Arrow/Flash spinoff — which is being described as a “superhero team-up” series.

Kendra Saunders is being described as “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”

Renée will join Arrow‘s Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/Atom) and Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/Canary) and The Flash‘s Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave), and Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein/half of Firestorm).

The series is also set to feature three three heroes who have never appeared on television, and casting calls for these heroes included “Female Warrior,” who was described as “pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.”

Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl was a common name among the speculation about the identity of this character, so it seems likely that this is her. If so, then we’re now only waiting on casting news for the other two heroes — as well as the identity of who Lotz will be playing, since Sara was killed off in the Arrow season 3 premiere.

Renée is an accomplished stage actress who made her Broadway debut in Big Fish and later replaced Patina Miller as the Leading Player in the Broadway revival of Pippin. On television, she has appeared in one episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
