Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg discusses the highly anticipated return of a certain character in this week’s episode, “Streets of Fire.” Spoilers ahead.

Kreisberg recently spoke at a press Q&A, and discussed Thea’s future. “All hell is going to break loose in the city and Thea will find herself in a precarious predicament, and she will be saved by her father,” Kreisberg teases. Thea was last seen at a train station under attack by Mirakuru soldiers.

It was revealed earlier this season that Thea’s father is none other than Malcolm Merlyn, who survived his climactic fight with Oliver in the season 1 finale.

He revealed himself as the one behind Moira’s acquittal for her role in the Undertaking and demanded Moira reveal his identity to Thea. Moira, though, refused and invoked the name of Ra’s al Ghul. Malcolm fled, but it was only a matter of time until we saw him again.

Now that he’s back, “Malcolm is going to offer [Thea] what she doesn’t have anymore.” What does that mean? “That was part of our math with killing Moira — that if we were going to send Thea in that direction, she needed to have nothing pulling her back here,” Kreisberg explains.

“Now she has a brother who lied to her and has done something unforgivable, and no mother. And on the flip side, she has Malcolm Merlyn saying, ‘I will never lie to you, Thea.’” And, as Malcolm lost his son in the season 1 finale, it should come as no surprise he would want to reach out to his daughter.

Below, we have two new episode stills depicting Malcolm’s return:
