Arrested Development alum Jessica Walter has passed away.

According to Deadline, Emmy Award winning actress Jessica Walter has died at the age of 80.

The actress passed away in her sleep at home in New York City on Wednesday (March 24) night.

She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Bowman and her grandson, Micah Heymann.

Bowman (who holds the title of SVP of Drama Programming at Fox Entertainment) confirmed the passing of her mother in a statement released on Thursday morning.

“It is with a heavy heart that I can confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica,” said Bowman. “A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre.”

Walter is likely best known these days for her work on the hit comedy series, Arrested Development. The actress scooped up nods at the Emmys and at the SAG Awards for her performance as Lucille Bluth on the beloved sitcom.

As her daughter mentioned in the statement above, however, Jessica Walter had an incredible career that spanned over the course of multiple decades. The actress began her career on Broadway in her hometown of New York City where her stage credits included parts in Neil Simon’s Rumors, Photo Finish, and the Tony Award winning revival of Anything Goes.

On the big screen, she went on to star in titles such as The Flamingo Kid and the Clint Eastwood helmed Olay Misty for Me.

On the small screen, Jessica Walter entertained audiences on series like FXX’s animated series, Archer, as well as Amy Prentiss. Her work on the latter scored her a win at the Emmys.

Walter’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
