Netflix is currently in negotiations for a second new season of Arrested Development, producer Brian Grazer confirmed to Bloomberg today.

“We are in conversations with them to do another,” Grazer said. “They are interested in doing that.”

Talk of Arrested Development season 5 has been happening since season 4 premiered on Netflix in May. The cast and creator Mitch Hurwitz are confident that another season can see the light of day if the entire group is up for the task.

In June, Hurwitz went so far as to tease a particular creature we can expect to see in season 5.

While viewership numbers for Netflix’s Arrested Development season – which ushered in new episodes for the first time in seven years – were never revealed, the publicity surrounding its highly-anticipated return was huge. It became Netflix’s most viewed show ever, according to the company.

One problem with season 4 was that some cast members have developed larger entertainment careers since season 3 ended, so scheduling everyone was difficult.

In some cases, having the cast all together was impossible. Certain actors had to be green-screened into scenes occasionally. In addition, the whole Bluth family was rarely seen together.

Season 4 took on a different feel than seasons 1 through 3. Each episode followed the storyline of a particular character, whereas when the show aired on Fox it followed everyone at once.

Once negotiations are complete, we assume Netflix will announce a timeframe for when filming will commence and when it’ll debut in our queues.

We hope that Netflix and Hurwitz take time to iron out schedules so that more actors can be included in the same scenes, and no green screen is necessary.

Netflix has been on a tear in recent months with shows that are original to their subscription service. Just this morning they debuted an original series called Orange is the New Black by Weeds creator Jenji Kohan.

Thanks, Bloomberg.
