Big news in the world of Arrested Development: Season 5 is coming very soon, and a “remix” of season 4 is now available.

Creator Mitch Hurwitz initially shared the news on Twitter last week. First: For those of you who didn’t like how season 4 was laid out, Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences is now available and is a complete recut of the 2013 series. Hurwitz says he shuffled “the content from 15 individualized stories into 22 interwoven stories the length of the original series.”

“I pursued it as a comedic experiment to see if new jokes and a new perspective would emerge from a remix that features all the Bluths in every episodes, and where the simultaneity of the story plays out chronologically,” he said. “And I’m really excited about the final result. It’s funny in a whole new way, and I believe it creates a really entertaining and hilarious new experience for the viewer.”

As for Arrested Development season 5, Hurwitz says it’s coming “soon. Like real soon. Like, if you knew when, you would not be wrong to be thinking ‘why are we all just hearing this now?'” The release date is to be announced “shortly.”

Update (May 7): Arrested Development season 5 is set for a release on May 29, and the first trailer is out now. It’s been five years since the last season, and Lindsay Bluth is running for office:

A poster for Arrested Development season 5 was also released. It features the lead cast on the infamous Stair Car:

And in a new synopsis, Netflix says: “In the aftermath of Cinco de Quatro, the Bluth family are all facing one question, that no one quite has the answer to; where is Lucille Two? As this Netflix (semi) original series returns on May 29th, the Bluths are back together, and finally getting the award they think they deserve – for family of the year. A development which will help Lindsay as she begins her campaign for Congress, to become ‘part of the problem’. But whatever happens, Michael will always come back to save the family. Probably.”

Arrested Development’s fourth season was jarring to longtime fans due to each episode only focusing on one character. This storytelling method was required for the season because it was impossible for the production to get their cast together simultaneously (You’ll recall the few scenes that they are in together are heavily green-screened).

Season 5 promises to have the cast interacting face-to-face once again. We can’t wait!
