Netflix won’t be following through with plans to promote the upcoming Arrested Development season across the pond.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the online streaming platform has decided to nix plans to bring the cast of Arrested Development to the UK for a round of previously scheduled press interviews to promote the newest season of the the series.

“We had planned to have most of the Arrested Development cast in London this week to support the launch of the new season and meet fans,” said Netflix in a statement. “At this time we have decided not to move ahead with promotional activity in the U.K. but hope to bring the cast back at another time.”

It hasn’t gone unnoticed by many that the decision to cancel the Arrested Development cast’s next press appearance comes hot off the heels of the infamous NY Times cast interview, which featured an emotional testimonial from Jessica Walter.

During the interview, Walter opened up about the verbal harassment she received from co-star Jeffrey Tambor, who just last year was one of many Hollywood A-Listers who came under fire for misconduct allegations.

Less than 24 hours after Walter tearfully explained that she’d never in her history in the business “had anybody yell at [her] like that on set,” her co-stars Jason Bateman and Tony Hale came under fire for the way they chose to defend Tambor’s actions.

During the interview, Bateman notably waved Tambor’s inexcusable behavior away, stating it was “part of his process,” as an actor, effectively ignoring Walter’s emotional pain.

Both Hale and Bateman have since apologized for their behavior via Twitter, but it’s clear the internet won’t soon be forgetting how easy it was for everyone on that stage to ignore Walter’s discomfort.

Though Netflix didn’t cite the New York Times interview fallout as a reason for why they chose to pull out of their U.K. press engagements, it doesn’t take much to put two and two together.

It’s very likely the online streaming giant wants to avoid the cast having to dodge questions about what transpired between Walter and Tambor, and how her fellow male co-stars responded to her testimonial earlier this week.

We’ll be curious to see if they cancel the rest of the casts’ promotional engagements from this point forward or not.
