Arnold Schwarzenegger is making up for lost time, adding the forthcoming zombie movie, Maggie, to his long list of developing productions.

He’s fought barbarians, robots, crooked cops, and even screaming kindergartners. Zombies were obviously the logical next step right?

Apparently Arnold feels the same way since he just signed on to star in and executive produce Maggie, a story about a father whose daughter is struck by a slow moving disease that will turn her into a zombie.

The script, written by John Scott 3, is what is known as a “Black List” script. These are deemed by industry development executives to be some of the best un-produced scripts.

Schwarzenegger would play the role of the father in the film, which has yet to add any other cast as far as we know.

The producers were previously in talks with Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz to star as the daughter, but talks fell through due to scheduling conflicts. Moretz has eight unreleased films in the works including, Kick-Ass 2 and a Carrie remake, which will both hit theaters later this year.

Maggie is Scott 3’s only feature film credit to date, but has gotten some good online buzz from people who have read the script. Commercial director Henry Hobbs is on board to direct the film.

As for Schwarzenegger, this will be one stop of many on his come-back tour. Like Moretz the star is set to appear in eight upcoming films (this makes 9) including, follow-ups to Conan the Barbarian, Twins, Terminator, and The Expendables.

There is no word yet on production or release dates for Maggie, but we will keep our ears to the ground for more casting news.

Are you excited about Arnold’s return ?
