Update: Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video is here and it’s already breaking records!

The wait is over for Ariana Grande fans who’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of the music video for the powerhouse pop star’s latest single, “Thank U, Next.”

The music video– which pays tribute to some of the most iconic rom-coms of the 2000s— hit the internet at 12 p.m. PT on Friday (November 30), and it’s already racked up millions of view.

So just how many times has the music video been streamed? According to Variety, “Thank U Next” amassed 50.3 million views in the first 24 hours of going live.

The seriously impressive stats makes Grande’s break-up bop the new holder of YouTube’s all time record for most views in the first 24 hours of release.

The record was previously held by K-pop superstars BTS, whose “Idol” music video racked up 45.9 million views in the first 24 hours over the summer. Grande, however, swooped up the title in just under 22 hours.

We’re not surprised so many music lovers tuned in— the pop star and her team have been hitting us with some seriously amazing sneak peaks featuring Grande playing out iconic scenes from classic rom-coms such as Mean Girls, Bring It On, and more for weeks.

It’s safe to say the music video lived up to the hype! Check it out below!

Original Story: Ariana Grande is continuing to hype the internet up for the release of her “Thank U, Next” video with a Mean Girls-inspired teaser trailer.

Pictures have been swirling around the internet of Ariana Grande dressed as the infamous Regina George from the 2004 film Mean Girls, surrounded by her own version of The Plastics and even the original Aaron Samuels himself, Jonathan Bennett. It’s all been in preparation for the release of the music video for her latest hit single, “Thank U, Next.”

The images, like this one of the Plastics and Aaron Samuels, have been absolutely on point and so fun to see. Grande and her version of the Plastics do such a great job of embodying the characters of Regina George, Cady Heron, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith that you almost have to do a double take of the group.

And while we’ve been loving the pictures, Grande took things a step further, releasing a teaser trailer for the “Thank U, Next” video. It’s a star-studded affair with appearances from Mean Girls alums like Bennett and Stefanie Drummond (you might remember her as the girl who enthusiastically recalls the time Regina punched her in the face), and several other famous faces from the music world, YouTube, and beyond. Take a peek at the trailer and to soak in the star-studded, Mean Girls fun.

And while the music video’s nods to Mean Girls is what is focused on in this trailer, Grande has been releasing images that show the music video is going to pay homage to several teen comedies from the early aughts, not just Mean Girls. Grande has also released images of her dressed in iconic outfits from movies like Legally Blonde, 13 Going on 30, and Bring It On.

This is definitely going to be a music video you just can’t miss, and we can’t wait to see how Grande is going to bring these three movies together for one song. But if her past videos are any indication, we know it’s going to be absolutely brilliant.

We don’t have an official release date for the “Thank U, Next” video, but the trailer promises the video is coming soon. So we’ll just be here, refreshing Ariana Grande’s Twitter and Instagram until the video officially drops!
