All those excited to see a truly epic sequel to this year’s Man of Steel are in for an Oscar-grade treat.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Terrio, writer of the Oscar-winning Argo, has been brought on to give Batman Vs. Superman a go-over.

For those hoping that the script wouldn’t be rushed into development, this is great news. No doubt, Terrio was picked due to his experience at adaptations, but let’s not forget his friendship with the franchise’s latest Batman, Ben Affleck.

We got to hear Terrio speak just moments after he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, and after hearing his strategy behind making the tone of Argo work, we’re confident that he’ll have the chops to get Batman and Superman firmly into the same universe. It’ll be a tough job, but we couldn’t be happier with Warner Bros.’ choice in script doctors.

Ever since Batman was brought into the Superman-sequel territory earlier this year, fans have wondered exactly how close the Dark Knight would actually get to the real star, Superman. Now with the announcement of several new characters coming into the fold, including the somehow-not-starring-in-her-own-movie Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, it certainly looks like Batman won’t be the focal point of the Supes-Bats team-up after all.

Now Joaquin Phoenix is being rumored to star opposite of Affleck and Cavill as the nameless villain of the film. No word on who that character is yet (or how bald they plan to make him), but it certainly seems that Warner Bros. is gaming hard to make Batman Vs. Superman as good as it can possibly be.
