FXX has delayed the debut of season 11 for its award-winning animated series Archer due to coronavirus-related production issues.

FXX released a statement about the Archer season 11 premiere, saying that “due to production challenges and scheduling issues, season 11 will no longer premiere on May 6.”

FX will release the premiere of the show sometime later this year, though a specific date has yet to be announced.

Though Archer, like most other animated series, had been able to mostly continue production during the coronavirus pandemic that has rocked all of the entertainment industry and the nation at large, work on the show’s upcoming season slowed down due to new challenges of virtual production.

According to Deadline, those new challenges made it impossible for the show to meet its May 6 release date.

This makes Archer one of the many shows whose season has been delayed, and the second FX Networks series whose premiere date has been postponed due to coronavirus-related delays and concerns.

FX’s Fargo is the other show, which saw its April 19 premiere on the network delayed due to the fact that its fourth season had yet to finish filming.

Archer was created by Adam Reed, and has been well received by both fans and critics. The show won an Emmy award in both 2015 and 2016, and frequently nabs a spot on critics end of the year “best of” list.

The most recent season of Archer centered Sterling Archer, Lana Kane, and their crew of acid-tongued misfits on board the M/V Seamus salvage ship.

An important question arises as they explore deep space and try to outsmart giant aliens, intergalactic pirates, and vicious bounty hunters: How do they survive each other?

Archer features the voices of H.Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, Amber Nash, Adam Reed and Lucky Yates.
