Aquaman fans can rest easy knowing Warner Bros., is already hard at work on a sequel.

According to The Wrap, Warner Bros., has officially settled on a scriptwriter to bring the next chapter of the Aquaman franchise to life.

The studio has tapped David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to pen the script for the upcoming sequel.

Johnson-McGoldrick is of course no stranger to the world. The scriptwriter co-wrote the first film alongside Will Beall, working off a story created by Beall, Geoff Johns, and James Wan.

The scriptwriter isn’t the only one returning to the franchise for the sequel.

Wan, who helmed the first installment, is on board to produce Aquaman 2 along with Peter Safran.

Sequel aside, it’s been a fairly big week for fans of Arthur Curry.

News of Johnson-McGoldrick returning to write the script for Aquaman 2 comes hot on the heels of word that Warner Bros., is also in the middle of working on an Aquaman spinoff.

Titled The Trench, the project is being described as a spinoff horror movie, and will also be produced by Wan and Safran.

Additionally, Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald are on board to write the script for the upcoming spinoff.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect Aquaman 2 or The Trench to premiere.
