The first trailer for Ted Lasso season 2 is here and it offers up a fantastic first glimpse of what’s in store for fans when the series returns.

AFC Richmond might have suffered a huge loss at the end of last season, but it’s clear that that’s not about to deter Coach Ted Lasso from continuing to lead with blind optimism.

The first trailer for Ted Lasso season 2 finds viewers catching back up with the titular coach, his football team, as well as the rest of the Richmond staff as they get to work in an effort to stage a huge comeback out on the pitch.

“People sayin’ there’s something wrong with us. Not the way I see it. I believe in communism— rom-comunism, that is,” proclaims the coach during one of his motivational speeches in the locker room. “If Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan can go through some heartfelt struggles and still end up happy, then so can we.”

The series, which debuted in August 2020, finds Jason Sudeikis starring as the titular Ted Lasso— college football coach from Kansas who uproots to England when he’s hired to coach a professional soccer team. Ted might have zero experience with soccer, but what he lacks in knowledge he more than makes up for with heart and optimism.

Others who star opposite Sudeikis in the critically acclaimed comedy include Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster and Nick Mohammed.

Ted Lasso season 2 premieres via Apple TV+ on July 23.
