A new anthology series titled Roar from the creators of GLOW is officially a go over at Apple— and the show already has a star studded cast attached to appear in it.

On Tuesday (March 2), Apple announced that it has ordered a brand new anthology series titled Roar, which hails from GLOW veterans Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch.

The new series, which is the first set to be released as part of Mensch and Flahive’s overall deal with the studio, is based off of author Cecelia Ahern’s book of short stories.

Described as a series of darkly comic feminist fables, Apple has ordered eight, half-hour long genre-bending episodes of Roar, all of which will be told from a uniquely female point of view.

The forthcoming anthology series already has a star-studded cast of notable names attached to appear.

Among those who’ve already joined the cast of Apple’s Roar are Academy, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Nicole Kidman, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony winner Cynthia Erivo, Emmy Award winner Merritt Weaver, and Golden Globe nominee Alison Brie.

Roar marks a reunion for Brie and show runners Mensch and Flahive, specifically. The actress previously starred in GLOW. The Netflix original series was originally renewed for a fourth season by the streamer, before Netflix walked its decision back in October 2020, choosing to cancel the beloved show instead.

Casting has only just begun on the anthology series, so we expect to hear more news on that front as Apple’s Roar anthology series moves further and further into production.
