Apple has just released a minor iOS update that fixes that horrible “A[?]” autocorrect bug.

On Thursday afternoon Apple issued 11.1.1, a 50 MB update that patches a bug that had taken hold of most iOS devices running 11.1. Earlier this week, Apple had issued a support document confirming the bug but only offered a temporary fix by way of text replacement.

You can get the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update on iOS for iPhone and iPad.

The bug was particularly embarrassing since the letter ‘i’ is an iconic part of the Apple brand. Onlookers made fun of Apple debuting such a “revolutionary” phone at the same time that they put out an iOS release with such a bad bug. (See photo above by Jeremy Burge).

Further making the bug particularly bad: The A[?] error bled over to the macOS operating system, and on to social media.

iPhone X debuted last Friday and has largely received positive reviews from users. Though Apple let a big bug slip out into the wild, it’s nice to see that they were quick-ish to issue a patch.
