A Mad Max spinoff about Furiosa is on the horizon at Warner Bros., and the project has already found its star in none other than Anya Taylor-Joy!

According to Deadline, Warner Bros., is currently in the process of developing a Mad Max: Fury Road spinoff centered on Furiosa.

Academy Award winner Charlize Theron portrayed the character in the 2015 post-apocalyptic action drama which imagined a world in which fuel and water are prized, yet scarce commodities. A fierce war captain, Furiosa eventually ends up turning on Immortan Joe in an effort to free The Five Wives.

The plan for the stand alone spinoff is to serve as an origin story for the character, detailing her life prior to the moment in which she ends up teaming up with Max Rockatansky in Fury Road.

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy has officially been cast to portray the young Furiosa we’ll meet in the spinoff— and the star of Emma and Glass isn’t the only notable name already attached to the film.

Other actors who’ll be joining Taylor-Joy in brining the origin story to life include Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and Thunder) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Matrix 4).

Behind the camera, Mad Max: Fury Roadhelmer George Miller, will once again return to serve as writer and director on the spinoff. In addition, Miller’s longtime producing partner, Doug Mitchell will also return to produce alongside the filmmaker.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect Warner Bros., Furiosa spinoff to speed onto the silver screen.
