The first official image of Yellowjacket, Ant-Man’s main villain, has been released by Marvel and Entertainment Weekly.

We’ve actually seen Yellowjacket before, but only in concept art. Now Ant-Man’s villainous antagonist is seen for the first time as he will look in Marvel’s Ant-Man adaptation.

Yellowjacket, also known as Darren Cross, will be portrayed by House of Cards actor Corey Stoll. He looks even more lethal than Ant-Man, and it’ll be interesting to find out his backstory, considering we only know what’s known from the comics. Which is unlikely to be the film’s backstory, considering Ant-Man isn’t being created the way he was in Marvel’s comic universe.

Michael Douglas will be playing Hank Pym, a biochemist who discovers an unusual set of subatomic particles he would label “Pym particles.” He would then discover that the serum was more powerful than he had expected, and is reduced to the size of an insect in the original comic. But in the film’s storyline, he doesn’t get turned into Ant-Man, he develops the formula and Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd) will be the one turning into Ant-Man.

After director Peyton Reed took over to helm the troubled film, there haven’t been many changes, but we’ve seen a few actors join the film after the script was finished. One of the actors who joined the project late was Yellowjacket actor, Corey Stoll.

It was back in August that we got our first look at Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, which revealed a much darker tone than we originally anticipated. Since then we’ve gotten a trailer and some other images from Marvel’s adaptation, and the movie continues to look more impressive than fans expected.

Rudd’s character is an ex-con and thief who ends up finding a mentor in Dr. Hank Pym, the genius inventor of the technology that allows him to shrink down to the size of an insect and increases the person’s strength.

We look forward to seeing more of Ant-Man as Reed continues finalizing the film. Yellowjacket’s design looks as equally impressive as Ant-Man’s, and we’re excited to finally see Yellowjacket’s final look from the film.

Ant-Man will hit theaters July 17, 2015.
