It’s not uncommon for an Avenger to appear in a Marvel film that doesn’t include their name in the title, but it is uncommon for the cameo to be spoiled early.

Obvious spoiler warning!

A new international television commercial for Ant-Man reveals that Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) will appear in this month’s new Marvel film in a yet-to-be-revealed capacity. The character’s appearance has been rumored for some time, but this television spot is the first time we’re getting official confirmation of Falcon’s involvement.

Check out his brief appearance in the below Ant-Man TV spot:

Falcon made his first appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and appeared again in this summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Viewers will recall that by the end of the Avengers sequel Falcon was being positioned as one of the main new Avengers team members as we enter Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’ll show up again in Captain America: Civil War (as will Ant-Man!).

The international marketing team behind Ant-Man probably let Falcon’s cameo slip by accident. Marvel and Disney usually like to keep these types of cameos a secret because it’s more more delightful for moviegoers to be genuinely surprised. Whoever edited this trailer together clearly isn’t an Avengers fan and/or aware of the fanbase.

Although Falcon’s cameo has been spoiled, maybe this isn’t the only “surprise” Avenger cameo in Ant-Man. Since Marvel is trying to launch a new series, and the marketing hasn’t shied away from using other popular Avengers to promote the film, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of big cameos.

Maybe Captain America will make an appearance?

Or maybe Iron Man will make an appearance?

Or maybe Thor will make an appearance?

Speaking of cameos, a new viral video for Ant-Man helps connect The Avengers: Age of Ultron to the Paul Rudd-led film. Check out this “news report” which depicts a familiar face from Iron Man hosting a news segment about Scott Lang’s upcoming release from prison. Yep, that’s Christine Everhart (played by Leslie Bibb) who worked for Vanity Fair when we saw her in the 2008 Robert Downey Jr. film as well as the 2010 sequel. Since then she’s worked her way up to hosting her own news program:

Ant-Man hits theaters July 17. Will you be seeing it in theaters?
